CTO in Gunib District of Dagestan cancelled

The regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO), introduced in the Gunib District on September 15, has been cancelled. Law enforcers reported that as a result of their activities, several militants' summer camps were discovered and destroyed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at 6:30 a.m. Moscow time of September 15, the legal CTO regime was introduced in the Gunib District. The law enforcers have reported that they are checking the information on the possible whereabouts of members of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

Today, at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time, the CTO regime in the Gunib District was cancelled by the decision of the operative headquarters of Dagestan, the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports.

"We discovered and destroyed several militants' summer camps, dugouts, and hidings containing equipment, food, and ammunition," the "Interfax" quotes an official from the operative headquarters of Dagestan as reporting.

Earlier, local residents have reported that on the first day of the CTO, they observed concentration of military vehicles and law enforcers in the Gunib District. On September 16, according to the local residents, law enforcers visited with inspections the houses in the village of Sogratl. After the inspections, some villagers were brought to the local police station. However, they were released later.
