Vladimir Evlanov re-elected Mayor of Krasnodar for third term

At the first session of the Krasnodar City Duma of the sixth convocation, deputies have approved Vladimir Evlanov for the post of the City Mayor for a new five-year term.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the post of the City Mayor was also claimed by Evgeny Kalioropulo, Director of the Department of transportation, traffic management and environmental protection of the Krasnodar administration, and Valery Oblogin, General Director of the "Garbage-Disposal Company".

According to the new mode of the election of the Krasnodar Mayor approved by the City Duma in June, the City Mayor is now to be elected by the Duma deputies not by the direct election, but following the results of the contest.

In the course of his speech, delivered to the deputies, Vladimir Evlanov has noted that the principles of the urban planning policy need to be revised and the requirements to the comprehensive development of territories in Krasnodar are to be tightened.

"Krasnodar is no longer trying to enlarge the volume of housing construction. Thus, a lot of gaps will be filled in through the construction of kindergartens, schools, and car parking lots and the creation of green areas," the City Mayor has stated.

Vladimir Evlanov has been holding the post of the Krasnodar Mayor since 2005. He was twice elected to this post at the general municipal elections, the "Yugopolis" reports.
