On September 14-20, at least 10 persons killed in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of September 14-20, 2015, at least 11 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, at least 10 persons were killed, and one person was wounded. The death toll includes two suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and eight civilians, all of them in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On September 14, not far from the village of Maidanskoe in the Untsukul District of Dagestan, policemen stopped a car for inspection. The driver came up to one of the policemen, stabbed him and then fled. The wounded police officer was hospitalized. He was a member of the police squad, which left for the village after the report on an explosion on its outskirts.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On September 15, the legal regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced in the Gunib District of Dagestan. Power agents are checking the information on the possible location of members of IAFs operating in the territory of the Gunib District. There is a large concentration of power agents and military vehicles in the Gunib District. On September 16, power agents started to inspect houses in the village of Sogratl. After the inspection of their houses, a number of local residents were brought to the local police station. Later, they were released. In general, the situation in the village of Sogratl is calm.

Bombings and terror acts

On September 14, a strong explosion occurred between the villages of Maidanskoe and Balakhani in the Untsukul District of Dagestan. As a result, two residents of the village of Balakhani were killed. They were identified by their relatives as Omar Sharapudinov and Saigid Nurmagomedov. About 120 meters from the place of the explosion, law enforcers found another bomb under a dismantled cabin of a KamAZ truck.

Attacks on civilians

On September 15, in the village of Rubas in the Derbent District of Dagestan, a woman and two men were killed from firearms. According to the preliminary information, the attackers fled in the car of their victims. According to the basic version of the investigators, the murder was committed by members of an IAF in retaliation for the activities of the woman, who was engaged in fortune-telling. The number of the victims includes the husband of the fortune-teller and their relative, who visited them as a guest.

On September 18, two local hunters appealed to the Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan and filed a complaint about the disappearance of their two comrades in the forest. On the same day, during the search carried out in the forest, the bodies of three other local residents were found not far from the village of Khtun. They were killed from firearms. On the other day, the bodies of two disappeared hunters were also found with gunshot wounds. The investigators believe that the men were killed by local militants because of the fact that the hunters cooperated with the law enforcement authorities. A summer camp of militants was discovered not far from the place where five hunters were killed.

Detentions

On September 18, an 18 year-old resident of the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan was taken into custody on suspicion of supplying a member of the armed underground with food, an apartment, and a car. According to investigators, in May 2015, the suspect agreed to provide assistance to Kamaldinov Kazimagomedov, a member of the terrorist grouping "Southern", who was put on the wanted list for involvement in and illegal armed formation (IAF).
