In Novy Kurush, Sufis close Salafi mosque
In Dagestan, residents of the village of Novy Kurush have carried out all the things out of the mosque, and the door to the building has been welded shut. According to the village administration, the action was sanctioned by the police.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, Magomed Khidirov, Imam of the Sufi mosque, was killed in the village of Novy Kurush. There were two mosques in the village: a mosque of the Sufi community and a mosque of the Salafi community. According to the local residents, the Imam had no conflicts with followers of the Salafi trend of Islam. An investigator has reported that the crime may have involved members of the illegal armed formation (IAF), operating in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan.
On September 22, the information about the closure of the mosque was received by the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot".
Till present, the information about detentions has not been confirmed yet. The decision to close the Salafi mosque was made by members of the Sufi community at the village meeting held on the same day, the "Novoe Delo" reports with reference to Rafik Yusupov, the head of the administration of the village of Novy Kurush.
Let us remind you that after the murder of the Imam, a regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced in a part of the territory of the district. Law enforcers conducted mass inspections of residents' documents and searched the forest areas. In the evening of September 11, the CTO regime was cancelled.
