CTO regime introduced in KBR

A counterterrorist operation (CTO) has been started in the village of Zayukovo of the Baksan District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). The CTO regime was introduced at 5:00 a.m. Moscow time.

The decision to conduct a counterterrorist operation and introduce a legal CTO regime was made by Colonel Oleg Usov, Chief of the Russian FSB Department for KBR. The territory of the CTO regime covers a part of the Baksan Municipal District, including the village of Zayukovo, the operative headquarters for KBR reports.

During the counterterrorist operation, a series of special measures and temporary restrictions will be valid in the above territory until the further special order, the "Interfax" reports with reference to a source in the operative headquarters.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the CTO regime was introduced in Nalchik at night of August 3. A group of armed men was blocked at a nine-storey building in No. 33 in Musov Street. They refused to surrender and were killed. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), six persons were killed, including a man suspected of the murder of Takhir Guziev, Chief of the Headquarters of the Division for the Cherek District of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). At 10:30 a.m. Moscow time of August 3, the CTO regime was cancelled.
