In Derbent, guests complain about difficulties in movement around city during holiday
Guests of Derbent, who came to celebrate the 2000th city's anniversary, complained about the problems with movement through the city centre and the work of catering points and shops. A number of local residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" said the city held a good celebration.
It has been reported that on September 19, Derbent celebrated its 2000th anniversary. The festivities were held at various venues in the city under enhanced security measures.
Residents and guests of Derbent could enter the venue at fortress Naryn-Kala by invitations only. The venue hosted the main anniversary show, which engaged show directors from Moscow.
Some people went to Derbent from Makhachkala by free trains. However, upon arrival at the train station, several hundred people did not know where to go.
According to the observations made by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the city centre gathered several thousand people. Almost everyone wanted to go to the city square, and jostling and crowding occurred at the entrance to the city square, since there were only two frame metal detectors, through which the people were passing.
The participants of the festival, including some journalists, claimed that despite the organizers' promise to arrange transportation between venues of events located in opposite parts of the city, nothing of that kind was arranged.
