Colonel Volodya Avetisyan's advocate files complaint to ECtHR
The defence of Colonel Volodya Avetisyan, a Karabakh war veteran, who was sentenced in Armenia on charges of fraud, has filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 20, 2013, Volodya Avetisyan, an active participant in the protests of Karabakh war veterans, was detained. Investigators accused him of fraud. On July 17, 2014, the court sentenced him to six years of imprisonment and a fine.
In the complaint, the defence of Volodya Avetisyan has asked the ECtHR to review the decision pronounced by the Armenian court, the "Caucasian Knot" was informed on September 17 by Ara Zakaryan, an advocate of Volodya Avetisyan.
"The case against my client includes violations of human rights," the advocate has stated.
He estimates the chances of success at the ECtHR as fairly high.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the summer of 2015, Armenia held protest actions in support of Volodya Avetisyan.
