Nemtsov's daughter asks to re-qualify her father's murder case
Zhanna Nemtsova petitions to re-qualify charges to figurants in the case of the murder of her father politician Boris Nemtsov, to another article of the Russian Criminal Code, said the advocate Vadim Prokhorov.
Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27 in Moscow. In connection with the crime, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were detained, namely: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev. All the five have been charged, but refuse to plead guilty.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier Zhanna Nemtsova complained to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) about ineffective investigation.
"Now I'm going to file a petition on behalf of Zhanna Nemtsova on re-qualifying the charges from the article of 'murder' of the Criminal Code of Russia into the article of 'attempt on the life of a statesman or public figure'. It is not a more serious article, but we believe that it is more correct," the TASS quotes Prokhorov as saying.
According to his story, both articles provide for life imprisonment, as well as the opportunity to be judged by a jury, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Under the law, the investigator must respond to the petition within three days, said Prokhorov.
Let us remind you that Zhanna Nemtsova and her advocates insist on questioning the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and relatives of un-detained figurant of the case, former officer of the Chechen battalion "Sever" (North) Ruslan Geremeev, declared wanted in June. However, the investigators refuse to conduct these interrogations.
