Derbent residents complain about neglect of city outskirts in preparing city jubilee

Derbent is completing the works on the preparation for the city anniversary. Residents note the positive changes the appearance of the city; however, they claim that the positive changes are not widespread and are most noticeable only in the central part of the city.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Derbent will celebrate its 2000th anniversary on September 15. The large-scale preparation for the festival takes several months.

According to local residents, every day, the central part of Derbent becomes clearer, and almost every day, teams of volunteers and members of youth organizations continue to arrive in the city to clean up the city.

However, according to Salimat Gasimova, a resident of the Airport District, the cleaning works are being carried out only in the centre of Derbent.

The old part of the city faces new repair works, reports Ali Gasanov, a resident of the old part of Derbent. According to him, "the main problems of the old part of the city are interruptions in water supply, dilapidated untended streets, and old underground communications."
