Court cancels decision to place MP Parshin in custody

The Volgograd Regional Court has granted the appeal lodged by advocates of Nikolai Parshin, an MP of the Russian State Duma, against the decision of the Tsentralny District Court to put him in custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 26 investigators put Nikolai Parshin, who is a figurant in the case of fraud with a land plot and the building of schools in the Sredneakhtubinskiy District of the Volgograd Region, on the federal and international wanted lists. Earlier, the above District Court ruled to put the MP into custody; and his defence lodged the above appeal on August 28.

Svetlana Bobrova, the press secretary of Nikolai Parshin, has reported that at the periods of time, when Parshin was summoned by investigators, the case was suspended; and in the opinion of the defence, it was a violation of the Russian Code of Criminal Procedure. Also, the advocate drew attention to the incomplete information that was provided to the operative agent, who made a decision to put Parshin on the international wanted list.

Summing up the outcomes of the today's court session, Svetlana Bobrova has treated it as "legitimate." She also reminded that Parshin's advocate had also challenged the decision about his international search, but "the date of consideration of the complaint has not been appointed yet."
