Police prevent Buynaksk residents from holding rally in central Makhachkala

Residents of Buynaksk tried to hold a rally in Lenin Square of Makhachkala, demanding to postpone election; however, policemen squeezed them off, the protesters report.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 4 residents of Buynaksk held a rally in front of the Prosecutor's Office in Makhachkala, where they demanded to reschedule the election of the head of Buynaksk from September 8 for a later date, after September 13, when Deputies of the District Assembly will be elected.

On the same day, after the rally at the Prosecutor's Office, a group of protesters moved to Lenin Square, where the buildings of the office of the head of Dagestan, the Government, the National Assembly and the Mayoralty are located. There, they tried to hold another rally.

There were about 100 protesters; and immediately reinforced police units arrived there, as the protesters told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today. In the course of the dialogue, protesters refused to disperse; therefore, policemen squeezed them from the square and accompanied up to Dakhadaev Street.

"As soon as we grouped together, policemen surrounded us, demanding from us to disperse. But we wanted to be heard by the leadership of the republic, for them to know about the lawlessness at the election of the head of Buynaksk," Ayzanat, a participant of the action, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that there were no incidents during the dispersal.
