"Musavat", ReAl and "Nida" agree to cooperate at elections in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani opposition "Musavat" Party and the civil movements "Republican Alternative" (ReAl) and "Nida" (Outcry) will cooperate at the parliamentary elections to be held on November 1. They have committed not to agitate against each other and, as far as possible, to support united candidates.

"Despite the minimal opportunities for holding free elections, we've still found it possible to take part in the parliamentary elections for the sake of the continuity and succession of our fight against the corrupt and authoritarian system," says the joint statement adopted by the "Musavat", ReAl and "Nida" on September 4.

The parties have also agreed to conduct a joint monitoring of violations, organize a collective observation on the voting day, draft a joint position against falsifications, and make joint conclusions on the election outcomes.

However, as Natig Djafarli, the executive secretary of the ReAl, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the parties would not create their electoral bloc for the elections. "Each organization goes to the polls with its own programme. The point is in our functional cooperation to promote democratic elections, identifying and elimination of violations of the law," he has stressed.
