Residents of Volgograd state combat fire inside the city

In Volgograd, near the settlements of Gumrak and Kamenny Buerak, unidentified persons in military uniform are periodically holding combat exercises in the improvised unfenced range, local residents report.

According to Farida Ramazanova, a resident of Gumrak, she has been living there for 25; and during all this time she heard shooting from the quarry. This year, gunshots are heard daily, Farida Ramazanova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"There are no warning signs; however, children are walking there," said Farida Ramazanova.

In the afternoon on August 28, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and Alexei Ulyanov, the chairman of the NGO "Public Independent Inspection", drove in a car on a country road across the sand quarry near the settlement of Gumrak. At the bottom of the quarry the car was stopped by a man in military uniform. Immediately, automating gunfire was heard.

Then, two officers approached the car and stated that they were holding "regular shooting" there. One of them presented himself as a commander of a police company. When asked by Alexei Ulyanov, why live firing was conducted in the city, the officer referred to the order; however, he could not demonstrate the text of the order to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
