Over 3000 came to commemorate victims of Beslan terror act

On September 1, North Ossetia is holding mourning events of those who perished in the terror act committed in Beslan 11 years ago. According to the republic's MIA, over 3000 people came to the yard of School No. 1.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 hostages at Beslan School No. 1. The rescue operation ended on September 3, 2004. The storming killed 334 people, 186 of whom were children.

Local residents began gathering in the school yard since early in the morning. Exactly at 9:15 a.m. – the time when terrorists stormed the school holiday line-up – the school bell rang. After that, all the participants went to the school gym to lay flowers and light candles in memory of the casualties. Today, like 11 years ago, people, who lost their beloved ones in the terror act, were crying at the school, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Zosima, Archbishop of Vladikavkaz and Alania, served the Orthodox liturgy in the gym. People continue coming to school and bringing children toys. A first aid centre is deployed in the yard; medics are on duty and also inside the building. All three days, mourning music will be played in the school.
