Residents of Novy Khushet report on 12 persons detained after assassination of district police inspector
The number of persons detained in the village of Novy Khushet after the assassination of the district police inspector has reached 12 persons, including one woman. Several villagers were detained after ammunition was planted to them, and advocates are not able to meet with their clients. This was announced by participants of the press conference held in Makhachkala.
On August 17, in the village of Novy Khushet of the Lenin District of Makhachkala, Shamil Abdurakhmanov, a 40-year-old senior district police inspector, was shot dead in his office. On the same day, a suspected killers' car was found on the road Makhachkala-Kaspiysk.
Relatives of the detainees have described the actions of the law enforcers as "lawlessness".
Muslimat Daitbegova, the wife of Magomed Askhabaliev, a detained resident of the village, has said that ammunition was planted to her husband. The woman has stated that the law enforcers refused to involve local residents as witnesses.
Advocate Selim Magomedov has stated that the law enforcers make obstacles to his professional activity. He has explained that on August 18, he was contacted by relatives of Magomed Malachev, one of the detained persons; however, on August 19, he was unable to meet his client.
At the press conference, villagers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that the police register them as Wahhabis without any notification about that.
