129,000 trapped in CTO zone in Dagestan
The CTO regime, introduced in the Suleiman Stalsky, Tabasaran and Khiv Districts of Dagestan, covers 2000 square kilometres, inhabited by 129,000 people. This year, these three districts have already caught the attention of power agents in the context of the shootout near the village of Akka and detection of bomb-making laboratories in the village of Orta-Stal.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the CTO regime was introduced in these districts on August 18, because of the search for members of the "southern" grouping of militants.
This year, the above districts have already been screened by power agents. Thus, on July 19, a shootout broke out in the woods near the village of Akka, Tabasaran District, which resulted in the killing of a SOBR (a sort of SWAT) fighter and Magomed Ismailov, a former, according to power agents, member of the armed underground.
In 2013, in Khuchni, the centre of the Tabasaran District, a terror act was committed, which killed a policeman and an employee of the FMS (Federal Migration Service) for the Tabasaran District and wounded 14 policemen. According to law enforcers, the bomb was triggered by Azim Mukailov, a resident of the village of Kushtil, the Khiv District.
Besides, in 2014, the Tabasaran District saw at least seven special operations. In 2011, a resonant murder of the Sufi religious leader Sirajuddin Israfilov was committed in the village of Khurik in this district.
