Defence of Andrei Vinogradov appeals against his arrest
The defence of Andrei Vinogradov, the head of the Kizlyar District of Dagestan, has filed a complaint against the decision of the court to arrest him.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Andrei Vinogradov was detained at night on July 27; and on July 29, the Moscow Basmanny Court ruled to arrest him. On August 7, it became known that Vinogradov was charged with financing terrorism, aiding militants and attempted murders of a policeman and an official of the city administration.
The advocate Aziz Kurbanov, who is representing the interests of Andrei Vinogradov, told the "Caucasian Knot" that he had appealed against the arrest of his client, who is kept at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Lefortovo" in Moscow.
According to Kurbanov, his client rejects all the indictment points.
"It is clear that Vinogradov had never dealt with financing terrorism; on the contrary, he was engaged in anti-terrorist activities by strongly helping law enforcement bodies, both at their request and voluntarily," said Aziz Kurbanov, adding that leaders of bandit armed groupings had spread messages announcing that the Sharia Court had sentenced Vinogradov and Murtazaliev to death. How can one sponsor people who want to kill you?" asks the advocate.
According to Kurbanov, Vinogradov also rejects all other charges against him.
