Policemen disperse rally in central Makhachkala (+video)

This morning, residents of the central part of Makhachkala, have blocked Yaragskiy Street in protest against the electricity outage in their homes that lasts for several days already. The action lasted for about 2 hours.

"Some people stay without electricity for three days, and some – even for six. This is a disgrace. People were driven to despair; therefore, they blocked the street. We can't reach city authorities, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of city power grid agency," Uma Salimova, a resident of Batyrai Street, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to protesters, at about 11 in the morning, policemen drove up to the place, where the street was blocked, and dispersed the crowd.

"Policemen came and began dispersing us; and when people refused to go away, they started pushing people and dragging away by force. The guys who filmed the scene by mobile phone and tried to intervene, were detained, but released almost immediately, because women demanded to set them free," Khadizhat Magomedova, a participant of the action, a resident of Nuradilov Street, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Protesters state that should the problem with power supply to their homes be not settled, they will go out to the street again.
