From July 27 to August 2, at least nine persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from July 27 to August 2, 2015, the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus claimed at least nine human lives. These are the results of calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The death toll includes one law enforcer from Kabardino-Balkaria and eight alleged members of the armed underground from Ingushetia.
Attacks on law enforcers
On July 31, in his own house in the city of Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, Takhir Guziev, the chief of staff of the Cherek ROVD (District Interior Division), was assassinated. Criminals broke into his household in the Festivalny Lane in Nalchik and opened fire on him. The attack resulted in the officer's death on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds. According to preliminary data, there were two attackers. Investigators found that the fire was delivered from a pistol and a submachine gun. The main version of the murder is the policeman's professional activities. According to one of the versions, one of the attackers was his neighbour, who, according to law enforcers, has recently become a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF).
Special and counterterrorist operations
On July 28, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Moscow time, in the outskirt of the villages of Ilaskhan-Yurt and Mairtup of Chechnya, an armed skirmish, supposedly of power agents with militants broke out. A young man from Mairtup met militants on his way home; the guy informed the appropriate bodies about the encounter.
On August 1, near the village of Dattykh, Sunzha District of Ingushetia, as a result of reconnaissance-search and ambush actions conducted by employees of special units of the FSB, a grouping of militants was detected. In the course of the armed clash with the use of artillery, eight suspected militants were killed. According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the killed militants were members of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS); while Adam Tagilov was the leader of the grouping. During the special operation in Ingushetia, Rakhim Kasybaev, Muslim Mekhtiev, Gairbek Djamaldinov, Ramzan Magomadov, Magomed Zaurbekov Adam Tagilov and Imam Utsimiev were killed; the name of one more casualty is not reported yet.
Terror acts and explosions
On July 27, at about 3:00 a.m. Moscow time, the shopping centre "Bashir", located in the central marketplace in the Dagestani city of Khasavyurt, was shelled. The shots destroyed the roof and the glass facing of the three-storey building, which houses the shopping centre. Nobody was killed or wounded; the attackers are being searched in the city.
Detentions
On July 31, in Makhachkala, during operative actions, policemen stopped a VAZ-2104 car, driven by a 27-year-old local resident. In the course of his personal search, the policemen found and confiscated 70 rounds of the 7.62 mm calibre, an RGD-5 grenade and a fuse to it. The man was detained and taken to a police station.
