Resident of Derbent asks investigators to seek her son

The mother of Magomed Karakhanov, who went missing on May 6 in Dagestan, has turned with her application to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) asking help in searching for her son.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to Gulya Karakhanova that her 20-year-old son Magomed was kidnapped on May 6. The boy suffers from asthma; he is a Category II invalid. On July 24, the woman filed a similar application to rights defenders. The police claim that Karakhanov could have links with the militant killed in the Tabasaran District; however, his mother rejects this version.

On July 30, Karakhanova sent an official application to Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the ICRF, noting: "For nearly three months since the disappearance of my son in such circumstances, a criminal case has not been opened."

As explained by the GOVD (City Interior Division) of Derbent, Karakhanov is not wanted as a suspect of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs).

Earlier, a police source reported that the police were really checking the information about Karakhanov's possible presence in the ranks of the armed underground.
