Residents of Chechnya report shootout in republic's east

A shootout of power agents with alleged militants occurred in the evening on July 28 in the outskirt of the villages of Ilaskhan-Yurt and Mairtup of the Chechen Republic and lasted for about an hour. There are no victims among civilians.

According to a resident of the Kurchaloy District of Chechnya, the parties in the armed skirmish were power agents and members of the armed underground.

Shooting was heard from 7 to 9 p.m. Moscow time, a state servant of Chechnya, who lives in Bachi-Yurt, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, noting that he had no information about casualties among power agents, but expressed confidence that none of civilians was hurt.
