Resident of Georgian Gori District detained near border with South Ossetia

Russian border guards have detained David Khuroshvili in the territory adjacent to the village of Khurvaleti of the Gori District. This was reported by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to the Georgian MIA, the 48-year-old man was detained when he was working in his garden together with members of his family.

Officials from the Georgian MIA note that they have already used a "hot line" to inform the international organizations on the incident and that the negotiations to release the kidnapped man are underway, the "Georgia Online" reports.

Tsiuri Khuroshvili, the mother of the detainee, states that her son did not cross the border with South Ossetia and that he was working on his land plot. According to the detainee's mother, the border guards gave David the chance to use a phone, and he informed their relatives that he was being transported to Tskhinvali, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Russian border guards have detained a resident of the Georgian village of Knolevi. The incident occurred on July 18, when the detainee and his son were working on their land plot.
