MoJ warns 12 NPOs of violating law on foreign agents
The Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has demanded from the non-profit organizations (NPOs) placed on the registry of foreign agents, including those working in Northern Caucasus, to indicate that the material published by them are being disseminated by an NPO-foreign agent.
"The NPOs that perform functions of foreign agents are obliged to indicate, when publishing and disseminating their materials, including through mass media or by using the Internet, that the materials have been published or distributed by an NPO acting as a foreign agent," the "Interfax" quotes the MoJ's statement.
According to the MoJ, as of July 21, warning were made to the charity organization to help refugees and forced migrants "Civil Assistance"; the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"; the Public Commission for Conservation of Sakharov's Heritage (Sakharov Centre); the Movement "For Human Rights"; the Information-Educational Centre "Memorial"; the Centre for Anti-Corruption Studies and Initiatives Transparency International-R; and the "Committee against Torture".
The organizations Transparency International-R and the "Committee against Torture", who received warnings about the need to mark their information reports with a "foreign agent" sign, stated they are not ready to fulfil the demand of the MoJ, the "Kommersant" writes today.
