Policeman lost in shootout in Tabasaran District

This morning, an armed clash with a group of unidentified persons broke out in the Tabasaran District of Dagestan, when the latter opened fire at policemen. One of the attackers was shot dead; and a SWAT agent was lost in the shootout.

As reported by a local law enforcement source, the clash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. Moscow time in the forest near the village of Akka.

"Unidentified persons opened fire at policemen. In the armed clash one bandit was killed by return fire, and a SWAT officer was fatally wounded," the "Interfax" quotes the source as saying.

After the end of the shootout, policemen found the firing point; and a submachine gun and two sleeping bags were found near the casualty.

At present, the casualty is being identified; and searching actions are continued in the area.
