Police identify man killed in Babayurt as militants' helper

Dagestani policemen have identified the man, who was shot dead in a shootout with power agents in the Babayurt District. According to the police, he was a helper of members of an illegal armed formation (IAF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7 an unidentified man tried to put a bomb under the door of a shop in the village of Babayurt. When law enforcers tried to detain him, he opened fire on them and was killed by return fire.

Today, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan said that the casualty has been identified. "He has been pre-identified as a 28-year-old resident of Makhachkala, who since the beginning of this year was registered as a helper of IAF members," says the statement posted on the website of the MIA.

According to the latest data, during the inspection of the killed man’s car, law enforcers found an improvised explosive device (IED), a pistol, two grenades, and a large amount of ammunition and medical supplies.
