In Sochi, defence of Anna Gritsevich to appeal against Court's arrest decision

Today, the Adler District Court of Sochi has inflicted penalty to Anna Gritsevich, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, in the case of disobedience to the police in the form of three days of administrative arrest. This was reported by Alexander Popkov, the journalist's advocate.

On June 29, Anna Gritsevich was detained together with ecologist Vladimir Kimaev during the police raid to the village of Chereshnya, where local residents protested against a landfill organized after the flood in Sochi on June 25. In the evening, the detainees were released on recognizance to appear at the court. They were charged with disobeying policemen.

According to the office of the Adler District Court, Judge Alexander Yakimenko found Anna Gritsevich guilty of violating Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced her to the punishment in the form of a three-day arrest.

The defender of Anna Gritsevich intends to appeal against the Court's decision.

According to advocate Alexander Popkov, the Judge rejected all defence motions and thus grossly violated the right of Anna Gritsevich to protection.
