In Sochi, emergency team starts pumping out water from house in Akatsij Street
In Sochi, pumping out of water from the local territory around the house No. 5 in Akatsij Street has been started. Residents of the house have complained about the lack of assistance from the authorities in elimination of the aftermath of the disaster. The authorities have explained their later assistance by "engagement in urgent activities at other facilities."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 25, Sochi suffered from a strong flooding. As a result, hundreds of houses were flooded. On June 29, Viktor Filonov, the First Vice-Mayor of Sochi, reported that water was pumped out of all the houses affected by the flooding. On the same day, residents of the house in Akatsij Street reported no assistance during the flood and sent an appropriate complaint to the regional department of the housing and utilities institution. Officials from the department confirmed that the complaint had been received by them. Then, the Sochi authorities were instructed to render assistance to the people in need.
Emergency team has not yet completed pumping water out of the house. Since water entered the house on June 25, it got swamped and thickened till July 4, and that fact significantly complicated the process. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Yuliya Saltykova, a resident of the house.
"All the people, including all of us and emergency team, are tired. There is no driveway to the house. And swamped water flows from taps instead of drinking water," Yuliya Saltykova has said.
Irina Kharchenko, another resident of the house, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the commission did not find visible signs of damage in their house and refused in compensation.
