Dagestan: three persons killed in shootout
Two suspected militants and a soldier of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation were killed in an armed clash that broke out in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since July 3, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) is held in the Kizilyurt District. According to a law enforcement source, a militants' summer base with an equipped dugout was found and blocked in the forest between the villages of Nechaevka and Matseevka.
When soldiers of Special Troops carried out a CTO in the above forest, they were shelled from automatic weapons, said the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC). A result a soldier of Special Troops and two alleged active members of the so-called "Kizilyurt grouping" were killed, the "Interfax" reports, referring to the NAC.
The NAC adds that the casualties were pre-identified as active members of the above grouping, who were on the federal wanted list on suspicion of committing "a number of serious crimes, including terrorism-related ones."
In place of the CTO, power agents found an arsenal of submachine guns, grenades, rifles and ammunition, over 20 kg of explosives, and detonators, the TASS reports.
