Police stop patrolling Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan
The situation in Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan, where protesters against rise of electricity tariff are still rallying, is quiet; and the police decided to suspend patrolling the area. The night passed without incidents.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since June 19 Armenia holds mass protests against the decision of the Commission on Regulation of Public Services (CRPS) to increase the electricity tariff. The largest action takes place in Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan.
Today, according to coordinators, at 3:00 a.m. local time, over 100 protesters were still in the avenue. Some of them were sleeping; others played games and held discussions. In the morning, they removed all the garbage.
At night, policemen were also not active – only a small number of them stood in the cordon, the "NEWS.am" reports.
The experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", believe that the movement against the increase of electricity tariff in Armenia is not a social, but a political phenomenon.
