Ingush SC leaves Ruslan Tsurov in custody until July 7

The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has dismissed the appeal complaint lodged by the defence of Ruslan Tsurov, in which the advocate asked the court to cancel the decision of the district court to put his client into custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ruslan Tsurov, a resident of the city of Nazran, was detained on May 7, as a suspect of illegal arms circulation. The reason for the detention was a grenade, found on him during a search. Relatives of Tsurov have stated that the grenade had been planted. A criminal case against him was opened on May 8. A month later, the court extended Tsurov's custody in the Karabulak SIZO (pre-trial prison) for another month.

Batyr Akhilgov, Tsurov's advocate, has again drawn attention to the conflicting data contained in the case files. Akhilgov has doubts that one could get into the building of interior division, bypass the on duty servicemen and a complex of security engineering systems, intended to prevent penetration of aliens into the building, with a grenade in his pocket.

"If it is really true, and Tsurov had been carrying – starting from the moment of his detention in the yard of his house, all the time was carrying a grenade in the pocket of his jacket and easily brought it into the police building, where the grenade was finally 'found on him' by the investigator, in this case it is reasonable to question the competence of the policemen who had let an armed person into the police building," said the advocate.
