Yerevan marchers demand to cancel increase of energy tariffs
Protesters against the rise of electricity tariffs have marched along central streets of Yerevan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 17 Armenia made a decision to increase electricity tariffs starting August 1. On June 19, in Yerevan, protesters went out to an action against the tariff rise. They announced a sit-in strike in Freedom Square and gave time to the authorities until June 22 to cancel the tariff-rising decision.
According to organizers, there were about 50 marchers in total, who called on citizens to join the protest movement demanding to cancel the rise of electricity tariffs. As noted by Maxim Sargsyan, a member of the initiative group "No to robbery!", by means of the march activists "are trying to attract non-indifferent citizens to the sit-in strike."
No incidents and accidents have been fixed in the course of the action.
