Sochi Mayoralty refuses to perpetuate Boris Nemtsov's memory
The members of the toponymic commission under the Sochi Mayoralty have decided not to install this year a memory plaque of Boris Nemtsov. However, they recommended the initiators of the perpetuation to raise the same issue after a year will have passed after the assassination of the politician.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 1 participants of the rally in memory of Nemtsov in Sochi offered to install a monument to him in the city. On April 7, a proposal to perpetuate the memory of Boris Nemtsov in Sochi by installing a memory plaque was moved by the Krasnodar Territorial Branch of the "Progress Party".
Boris Nemtsov, a famous oppositional politician, a native of Sochi, was killed on February 27 in Moscow. His murder case has five detained figurants – natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev.
The report of the above Krasnodar Territorial Branch of the "Progress Party" asserts that the members of the committee disagreed about the place, offered by the Party Branch (the stele near the monument to victims of political repressions at the intersection of Parkovaya and Constitution Streets of Sochi).
According to opposition activists of Sochi, they would not give up their activities after Nemtsov's murder. The slain politician was an honest and open person, say the Sochi residents, who personally knew Nemtsov.
