Tbilisi authorities promise to rent apartments to flood victims

The Mayoralty of the capital of Georgia has agreed with the managers of five hotels on the temporary accommodation of the families, whose private houses in Svanidze, Chikovani, and Makhiauri Streets were destroyed by the flooding. In the coming days, the people deprived of their houses will be settled in rented apartments.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of June 14, the capital of Georgia faced a heavy rain, which resulted in the flooding. According to the updated information of the Georgian Council for State Security and Crisis Management, 19 persons were killed by the disaster.

Prices for hotel rooms start at 70 laris (31 US dollars) per day; however, after the negotiations with the Mayoralty, the hotels reduced the prices for accommodation.

According to an official from the administration of the Tbilisi District of Saburtalo, which streets have been affected by the disaster, in the coming days, the city administration will rent apartments for all the families affected by the flooding. And after some time, the city will purchase or build houses for the victims.

When asked whether the Mayoralty promised them houses to replace their lost ones, Tbilisi residents deprived of their houses responded that they had no subject conversation yet.
