Hotels and private houses of Tbilisi accommodate 80 flood-affected families

In Tbilisi, 80 families consisting of about 400 people, who suffered from the flooding, have been accommodated in ten hotels and ten private houses. The population of the city and a number of companies have gathered foodstuffs, daily necessities and medicines for them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on June 14 the capital of Georgia was hit by a heavy downpour, which led to flooding. Several city streets were flooded, buildings and infrastructure were damaged. According to the Council for Security and Crisis Management of Georgia, as of 3:47 p.m. Moscow time on June 16, the number of casualties of the natural disaster in Tbilisi reached 16.

Today, throughout the day, volunteers conducted a survey among the victims aiming to define their needs and distribute the collected things, said the press service of the government of Georgia. Besides, on June 15, the service of health and social protection of Tbilisi Mayoralty also studied the needs of the victims of the flooding.

The victims were advised 16 family doctors, who have defined their medical needs. According to the survey, 33 people need medication, 34 – medical care, and 12 – psychological help.

Let us remind you that servicemen and volunteers are involved in clearing the flooded streets. The authorities have begun evaluating the damage caused to houses by the flooding.
