Friday prayer at Nasyr-Kort mosque held without incidents

Today, prayer at mosque in Nasyr-Kort has been attended by Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov, imams, and theologians.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4, in the course of the conflict between mosque-goers in Nasyr-Kort, fire was opened from automatic weapons. After the incident, Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov has threatened to close the mosque in Nasyr-Kort till the conflict is resolved. However, on June 11, the decision on the closure of the mosque was postponed.

The conflict at the mosque has arisen from the Khamzat Chumakov's decision to cancel Friday prayers. Khamzat Chumakov has claimed that his opponents attempted to provoke a mass fight at the mosque. Meanwhile, Isa-Khadji Khamkhoev, the Mufti of Ingushetia, has stated that the Muftiyat had never appointed Khamzat Chumakov to be the Imam.

The Mufti has urged Khamzat Chumakov to give place to Rustam Chakhkiev appointed as the Imam by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM).

According to Magomed Mutsolgov, an Ingush human rights defender, the conflict is not and will be not escalated; however, the problem is still not resolved. "Today, given our traditions, Khamzat gave way to the Imam from another village... And it is necessary to ensure that on the following Friday, Khamzat takes his post, and then everything will be fine," the human rights defender has stated.

Let us remind you that Khamzat Chumakov and his supporters have claimed that they stand only for peaceful means of the conflict resolution.
