In Dagestan, 57,000 people covered by CTO regime
Today, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime has been introduced in the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan by the decision of the operational headquarters. The CTO regime covers an area of about 667,000 square kilometres.
The Suleiman-Stalsky District borders with the Tabasaran, Khiv, Kurakh, Derbent, and Magaramkent Districts. The administrative centre of the Suleiman-Stalsky District is the village of Kasumkent located about 200 km from the Makhachkala.
According to the Statistics Committee for Dagestan, as of January 1, 2015, the population of the Suleiman-Stalsky District is 57,374 people, the website of the Federal State Statistics Service reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that at night on June 2, a shootout occurred in the Suleiman-Stalsky District. As a result, two law enforcers were wounded. On May 22, the CTO regime in the Suleiman-Stalsky District and the neighbouring Kurakh District, which was introduced on May 17 after the murder of the forester, was cancelled.
