TI to complain about violations to Armenia's CEC
The Anti-Corruption Centre of the Transparency International (TI) has decided to send to the Armenian Central Election Commission (CEC) the complaints about the violations identified by observers in the process of electing administration heads and members of Councils of Elders.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 7 residents of 32 communities of Armenia elected heads of their administrations and members of the Councils of Elders. Activists of the TI conducted observations in all 32 communities and reported about at least eight violations.
According to Armen Grigoryan, the TI's programme coordinator in Armenia, major violations were fixed in the city of Abovyan. According to his version, four violations in Abovyan had to do with "huge crowds at the polling station and delivery of voters to polling stations." The rest of the violations were related to the confidentiality of the elections, Armen Grigoryan has added, emphasizing that he is not ready yet to specify the exact number of registered violations. He also found it difficult to say how serious were the violations identified by the TI, and how they have affected the election outcomes.
