Eyewitnesses refute allegations about mass detentions of pogromists of JMG in Grozny
During the attack on the office and apartment of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG) in Grozny there were no mass detentions, because no policemen were present at the attack, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by eyewitnesses. In their turn, law enforcement bodies of Chechnya assert that relatives of the murdered Jambulat Dadaev were the organizers of the pogrom.
At the same time, power agents are looking for instigators of the riots among the dozens of detained participants of the rally.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 3 during a rally held at the office of rights defenders in Grozny, unidentified persons attacked the office of JMG, which was the working place of the Committee against Torture (CaT) as well.
As explained by an officer of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the police are currently working to "identify the instigators of the pogrom and bring them to the liability under the law."
The attack on the CaT had been pre-planned, because "it is really engaged in human rights activities, and, as far as possible, is trying to protect the rights of citizens of the republic," the head of a local NGO is convinced.
