YouTube blocks "The Family" because of copyright violation
YouTube has blocked because of copyright infringement the film "The Family" about Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov prepared by the "Open Russia", a public organization led by Mikhail Khodorkovsky. According to the "Open Russia", the film has been viewed more than 900,000 times during a week.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 25, the 26-minute documentary film "The Family" dedicated to the Ramzan Kadyrov's place in the system of the Russian authorities, the cases of kidnappings and torture in Chechnya, and the organization of the activities of the local law enforcement agencies was posted on YouTube. The film presents the analytical comments on the policy of Ramzan Kadyrov and the situation in Chechnya given by Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the former head of the "Yukos", political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky, Grigory Shvedov, the "Caucasian Knot" editor-in-chief, Igor Kalyapin, the head of the "Committee against Torture", journalists Stanislav Dmitrievsky, Kseniya Sobchak and Kseniya Sokolova, and politician Ilya Yashin.
According to the "Open Russia", YouTube has blocked the access to the film because of the complaint filed by Ilyas Synbulatov, the owner of LLC (Limited Liability Company) "T&K Production". The "Open Russia" has noted that they are challenging the blocking.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the appearance of the film "The Family", the STRC (State TV and Radio Company) "Vainakh" posted the film "Herd", which accused the authors of the film "The Family" of the anti-Russian propaganda.
