Resident of Stavropol Territory sentenced for taking part in Syrian conflict

The court has sentenced Alimkhan Temirov, a resident of the Stavropol Territory, found guilty of taking part in the warfare in Syria as a member of the ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), to two years in colony.

According to the court, from November 2013 to February 2014 Temirov, while staying in the territory of Syria, was a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) of the ISIL, where he went to guard the areas controlled by the Free Syrian Army, took part in the attack on the military airfield near the village of Minakh, and perform other duties under the command of the head of his IAF. It is reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory.

The Leninsky District Court of Stavropol found Temirov guilty under Part 2, Article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation in a foreign country in an armed formation that is not provided by the legislation of that country, with the aims contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation), said the website of the Prosecutor's Office.
