Mukhammad Magomedov charged

The defence of Mukhammad Magomedov, one of the leaders of the public organization "The League of the Just", suspected of illegal possession and manufacture of weapons, reports that he has been officially charged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 23 it became known about the detention of Magomedov on suspicion of the above offence.

On May 25, the Leninsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested Magomedov for 10 days; and his defence appealed against the arrest. Rights defenders of Dagestan demanded his release.

His advocate said that today is an expiry of a 10-day-long period, within which the charge should be presented; otherwise, the activist was to be released.

It is known that Mukhammad Magomedov tried to organize a rally against Caucasophobia in Moscow in January 2014; however, the city administration refused to sanction the action. Also, in January 2014, it was reported that Magomedov was suspected of involvement in an extremist organization. According to his story, the reason for the initiation of the case against him was his participation in the conference "Problems of Islam in Russia" in Moscow in 2012.
