Zolsky District of KBR put under state of emergency

The state of emergency was introduced in the Zolsky District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), where 19 dwelling settlements of the municipality were struck by heavy rains.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 30 a heavy hailstorm caused river overbank and flooded the villages of Shordakovo and Kichmalka. According to Ruslan Gyatov, the head of the district administration, 6 out of 19 settlements of the municipality were affected by the disaster.

"Three bridges on regional roads are completely destroyed, including the only one leading to the village of Khabaz. 110 households have no gas supply," said Gyatov.

According to his story, the village of Zalukokoazhe is left without water supply, as the dike of the water intake was completely washed away. 50 houses in Kichmalka and 200 in Shordakovo were flooded.

At present, reconstruction works are underway in the district.

According to the website of Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of the KBR, the republic is under a storm warning.
