Native of Azerbaijan arrested in Moscow on suspicion of killing policeman
The Chertanovo Court of Moscow has ruled to arrest, till July 27, Nemat Rashidov, a native of Azerbaijan, who is accused of killing Junior Sergeant Andrei Bannov on the Ring Highway.
Investigators demanded to place Rashidov in custody for two months, until the end of the inquiry, that is, until July 29, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The prosecutor has fully supported the investigators' demand.
The accused person himself said that he repented of his deeds and stated that he did not know that he "committed a crime against a policeman."
On May 27, policemen were pursuing a Gazel van, presumably driven by the culprit. At about the 24th km of the Moscow Ring Highway (known as MKAD), the van was stopped by police patrol cars. The alleged perpetrator left the car and ran into the forest. At an attempt to detain him, one of the policemen received at least three stab wounds, from which he died on the spot.
On Friday night, operative agents of the Moscow Criminal Search (known as MUR) detained the suspect, with the support of special fighters, in one of the apartments in Kirovogradskaya Street, where he again rendered resistance. He turned out to be a 25-year-old Nemat Rashidov, the "Interfax" reports.
