In Rostov Region, 140 km of engineer barriers built on border with Ukraine
In the Rostov Region, a trench has been dug, and additional barriers have been installed on the border with Ukraine. The enhancement of the border security is necessary to ensure the stability of the region, the Border Guard Department of the FSB Department for the Rostov Region reports.
So, in total, about 100 km of trenches and more than 40 km of barriers have been arranged along the border with Ukraine. This was reported by Andrei Timofeev, the spokesperson of the Border Guard Department of the FSB Department for the Rostov Region.
"It cannot be called a wall or a continuous trench. We just strengthen from the engineering point of view the separate sectors of the territory, where there is a danger of invasion of cars, vehicles, or people. At one place, we arrange a fence; at another place, we dig a trench or install a wall. All this is called "engineering arrangement of the border on separate hazardous sectors." 100 km is the total length of all the facilities arranged. This means that somewhere, their length is one km, and somewhere 10 kilometres. In some sectors, the border is guarded by border guards, and in other sectors by technical equipment," Andrei Timofeev has stated as quoted by the "Vedomosti".
