Court of Makhachkala arrests Mukhammad Magomedov for ten days

Today, the Lenin District Court of Makhachkala has announced the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of 10-day arrest against Mukhammad Magomedov, one of the leaders of the public organization "League of the Just".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the afternoon of May 23, Mukhammad Magomedov was detained by unknown men in masks. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has managed to contact Mukhammad Magomedov himself by phone, and the detainee has confirmed that he is being kept at interrogation department of the Lenin ROVD of Makhachkala on suspicion of possession and manufacture of weapons. On May 24, an advocate of Mukhammad Magomedov managed to visit his client. According to the advocate, his client pleads not guilty.

The Court has considered the motion of the investigating authorities and announced the decision to take Mukhammad Magomedov in custody for the period of ten days. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by Abakar Abakarov, a member of the Board of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus (RCPC).

According to Abakar Abakarov, during the period of 10-day arrest of Mukhammad Magomedov, the investigators are to file the formal charge against the detainee. In case if no charges are filed, Mukhammad Magomedov will be released.
