Winner of marathon run in Chechnya gets a Toyota

According to Chechen authorities, over 10,000 athletes from 14 regions of Russia, as well as from Turkey, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, took part in the international marathon run "From Heart to Heart"; and the winner was awarded a Toyota Corolla car.

The route of the marathon was from the mosque "Heart of Chechnya" in Grozny to the mosque in the city of Argun, named after Ramzan Kadyrov's mother. The distance of the run was 16.5 kilometres, a source from the Ministry of Sports of Chechnya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the source, the run "was attended by minors and elderly runners, and even wheelchair invalids." But most of the runners were young people under 25 years old. Prior to the run, they said that hoped to win monetary awards.

The winner of the marathon was Andrei Safronov, an international-class master of sports in athletics from Ufa. He won the main prize – a Toyota Corolla car. The runner-up and the bronze medallist received 200,000 and 100,000 roubles, accordingly, those in fourth and fifth places – 50,000 roubles each; and the athletes who took the places from the 6th to the 10th received 25,000 roubles each.
