Health condition of Azerbaijani hunger-strikers gets worse (+video)

Seven participants of the hunger strike held at the headquarters of the "Musavat" Party have no intent to stop it, despite the deterioration of their health, said Razim Amiraslanov, a member of the party board.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 12 the "Musavat" Party announced a hunger strike with a demand to release political prisoners.

"Those, who take part in the hunger strike from the first day, are significantly weaker; they look pale. Today, they were examined by doctors. They have low blood tension, but are not going to stop the protest," said Amiraslanov.

"We are hunger-striking for the fourth day; we were examined by doctors. But I need no medical help. Even if doctors forbid me to go on, I'm not going to give up," Rauf Aga, a "Musavat" activist told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We can't appeal to the society; we have no access to television; they allow holding our rallies only in outskirts; and in order to attract attention to the problem of political prisoners, we decided to go on a hunger strike. We want to draw attention to the need of releasing political prisoners even at the cost of our health; and we won't stop the action until we see all the political prisoners at large," said Ali Gasanov, another hunger-striker and a member of the "Musavat" Party.
