In Rostov-on-Don, part of memorial complex "To Fallen Warriors" collapsed
In Rostov-on-Don, a part of the memorial "To Fallen Warriors" located on Karl Marx Square has collapsed when people were laying flowers at the Eternal Flame memorial.
Granite memorial pieces fell down to the place, which a 15-year-old schoolgirl, who was on duty in the guard of honour, left several seconds before the collapse.
The rest of the schoolchildren remained standing near the dilapidated memorial till the end of the event, the "Politnavigator" reports.
The memorial complex "To Fallen Warriors" was opened in 1969; and it got the status of an object of cultural heritage of local importance. The memorial is located at the site of graves of 300 Soviet soldiers and civilians, who died during the occupation and the battles for Rostov-on-Don.
