Georgian political analysts state illegality of Khidasheli's and Agulashvili's office
The authorities of Tinatin Khidasheli, the Acting Minister of Defence, and Gigla Agulashvili, the Acting Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources, are illegitimate, as they remain members of parliament, Georgian political analysts believe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 1, the Acting Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili presented to the President candidates for positions in the government. The post of the Minister of Defence will be taken by Tinatin Khidasheli. In his turn, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili delayed by a week his signing the new staff of the government.
The list of candidates for ministers has been sent to the President of Georgia on May 1.
In the opinion of Khatuna Lagazidze, a member of the NGO "Institute of European Values of Georgia", the president's decision to postpone the signing of the document on the new composition of the cabinet of ministers can be explained by several reasons.
"Maybe, the President wanted to prove his high performance by this decision – of the President's Institute during the parliamentary crisis and the crisis of the executive power," she said.
According to her story, the president could also act in this way in order to "dissociate himself from the work of the economic block of the government." "The main problem in the country is the daily falling exchange rate of the national currency," said the political analyst.
