Resident of Dagestan sentenced for involvement in IAF

The Shamil District Court has found a local resident guilty of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF) and sentenced him to one year of imprisonment with a restriction of freedom for one year.

In the course of the trial, it has been revealed that in July 2012, G. Gadjiev, a resident of the village of Machada, joined a militant grouping acting in the territory of the Shamil District led by Magomed Khalitov. The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Khalitov was killed in the special operation carried out in December 2013.

According to the investigators, G. Gadjiev used to play a specific role related to securing the functioning of the militant grouping.

When imposing a sentence, the Court took into account the fact that the defendant committed the crime when he was a minor. Besides, the Court has also considered the mitigating circumstances, the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan reports.
